On today's
episode of the Only in OK Show, we check out Lake Eufaula State Park in Checotah,
Oklahoma.
The mission of Lake Eufaula State Park is to provide a safe
place for the public to recreate, to enjoy and appreciate the
state's natural and cultural resources; to encourage public health
and wellness and to benefit local and state economy through tourism
and outdoor recreation. To partner with local schools by providing
programs that enhance and encourage science education and instill
environmental stewardship in our youth.
The City of Checotah is nestled among the intersection of I-40
and US HWY 69. The traffic count on the highways combined is
approximately 20,000 per day. Checotah is near Lake Eufaula, which
was once the largest manmade lake in the nation, with 640 miles of
shoreline. Checotah is home to a large number of antique malls, a
Civil War battle site and a downtown historic district.
